Deep work a book written by Cal Newport. It is a quite useful book, there are three things I do not like about this book.

  1. It maybe just me, but I do not like to read exactly the same sentence more than once in a single book!
  2. First couple of chapters used to give the reader anectodes and evidence for why deep work is a thing and why it matters, although Cal is a scientist and in this book just like the scientific method he is trying to motivate and justify his hypothesis, to me it seemed a big part of the books is spend on that specific subject matter, I wish he would bring the sections with the guidelines and methods to build of habit of deep work and avoiding shallow work.
  3. I have a feeling this was not one of the three ones but I kind of felt like Cal is putting too much emphasis on some of the examples of people who do deep work, such as Bill Gates, I like read the same fact only once or if twice that should be a reminder, not just a repetition of the same ideas over and over.

I still very much appreciate the books, it discusses exactly my problem, as someone with the shortest attention span, I really feel like I should do some of the exercises mentioned in the book and only after trying them all I can give my opinion about how helpful they are, although I already have a feeling the should work, at least to some extend.

One thing that I already do is the big change or the grand gesture my most productive hours are the ones when I am ssitting in a cafe or when I am in another country in a cafe. that’s the time even though I am not a writer I start writing, no matter what it just flows from my fingertips! [I am sitting in a cafe in Madrid now].

p.s. This is a draft written while I was under influence of alcohol! it surely needs more refinements.
