I remember last year the phrase 10x engineer became a meme on Twitter and probably everywhere on the Internet. I don’t think that I’m a 10x engineer, but I’d like to think that I was a decent engineer at some point in my career. There’s a book called 10x rule by Grant Cardone, I listened to it in audiobook form, I believe it’s read by the author and this guy is so energetic that I feel like I want to go full power 10x on every aspect of my life.
I recently listened to “Why we sleep” by “Matthew Walker, Ph.D.”, it simply change my view towards sleep and my life. For the bigger part of my life I thought the amount of sleep we get is not of such importance and people who sleep very much are generally lazy, I would always attribute part of the sleeping hours to genetics but apart from that I would think people actually some of my exes to be lazy!
Deep work a book written by Cal Newport. It is a quite useful book, there are three things I do not like about this book.
It maybe just me, but I do not like to read exactly the same sentence more than once in a single book! First couple of chapters used to give the reader anectodes and evidence for why deep work is a thing and why it matters, although Cal is a scientist and in this book just like the scientific method he is trying to motivate and justify his hypothesis, to me it seemed a big part of the books is spend on that specific subject matter, I wish he would bring the sections with the guidelines and methods to build of habit of deep work and avoiding shallow work.
I have to say this book is my all time favorite, the amount of information I received from this book is not measurable, on top of that it made think, and question what I thought I know. An impressive experience, I have already recommended it to many of my friends and I will keep doing so.
Some people like to brag about their national food, but they tend to forget that what they consider to be their national food is not really theirs, in fact a couple years back the ingredients they use where not even available in their countries and they could not even name such ingredients if they would see them.
I recently listen to a podcast named Tim Ferris Show the latest episode I listened to is this one, it’s an interview with Drew Houston the co-founder of Dropbox. I really liked their conversation, at some point Tim asks Drew, what are the top 5 books he would recommend to those who want be better at business, well I’m sort of paraphrasing here but you can listen to the whole episode.
